EXPLAINER ANIMATION

Cree Nation Government

The Cree Nation Government recognized the need to enhance financial literacy within local communities of Cree descent. Aiming to empower individuals with crucial knowledge about mortgages and funds, they embarked on a project to create a concise yet comprehensive explainer video. The goal was to educate community members on these essential financial topics and promote a more informed and financially secure future.

” Research was key when approaching a project for a cultural organisation. I reviewed previous brand videos and assets, as well as current brand guidelines to ensure the video remained bespoke yet closely branded. “

Cree representation

Creating video content that will help educate community members who are not familiar with the administrative and banking side of owning a home can be tricky.

To make a project like this run successful it is important to hit case specific Objectives:

  1. Educate Cree community members about financial literacy, specifically focusing on mortgages and funds.
  2. Create an easily digestible and engaging explainer video to reach a broad audience.
  3. Strengthen the financial well-being of individuals within the Cree communities.

To achieve our goal I did the following:

  • I created a custom color palette, based on paintings of northern natives.
  • A narrator fluent in Cree and English was chosen to ensure accessibility for all community members. The voiceover conveyed information clearly and respectfully, maintaining a balance between professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
  • Scenes depicting local communities, traditional activities, and family life were woven into the narrative, fostering a sense of relatability and connection. The use of Cree artwork and symbols added a culturally enriching layer to the visual experience.

Results

The financial literacy explainer video for the Cree Nation Government yielded positive outcomes:

  1. Community Engagement: The video garnered enthusiastic responses, with community members expressing appreciation for the culturally sensitive approach to financial education.
  2. Increased Awareness: Local residents reported an enhanced understanding of mortgages and funds, leading to more informed financial decisions.
  3. Empowered Communities: The video contributed to fostering a culture of financial empowerment within Cree communities, encouraging proactive financial planning and decision-making.

End of project

The success of these financial literacy explainer videos exemplifies the impact of culturally tailored educational content. By combining financial expertise with cultural sensitivity, the Cree Nation Government effectively empowered its communities with valuable financial knowledge, fostering a path toward greater financial well-being and security.
